VIKAS – as the name suggests provides ample space and time for Educational, Physical and Mental expansion and growth of an individual and thus has become the epitome to the all round development of an individual, attracting students from different corners.

Students are exposed to a well developed time table that caters to both the Physical and Academic needs as we believe that “All work and no play make Jack a dull boy”.

The day begins with brink of dawn. Students are allowed to exercise, jog and breathe in fresh air from 5:00 AM -5:45 AM to rejuvenate their mind and body to scale a new day filled with challenges which is succeeded by the study hour between 6:00 AM and 7.30 AM. The Food menu is open for both the day-scholars as well as the hostel-dwellers and the break-fast is served from 8:00 AM onwards.

Regular morning classes commence at 9:00 AM and extend up to 12:00 PM. In order to soothe and refresh themselves, it is mandatory to practice 20 minutes Yoga followed by sumptuous meals. The noon classes run between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM and there on snacks are provided.

Remedial classes for CET and other All India Competitive exams are taken up between 4.30 PM and 6.30 PM on weekdays and between 1:00PM to 6:30PM on Saturdays. Every Saturday the Students face a weekly test and the Parents are informed about their wards performance through SMS. Remedial classes for the low performers are also taken in the mornings between 7:00 AM and 8:15 AM to boost the confidence of the students. The PCMB faculties are available to clarify their doubts every day.

The day scholars can avail the transportation facility. The college bus plies in the major areas and outskirts of Mangaluru in the mornings and evenings. For the hostel inmates, dinner is served in their respective mess halls from 7:15 PM to 8:00 PM. The hostel dwellers are permitted to communicate with their parents through the EPABX facility from 6:30 PM -8:25 PM. Local, National and International calls can be made using this prepaid facility.

The timings between 8:30 PM -11:00 PM is thought to be congenial for the Students to read, review and revise the day’s work and gear up for the new challenges that would be confronted by them the next day.

Sunday is a day to relax and to have a ‘Vent’ to de-stress and unwind from time to time; break away from the routine and slip into fun and play. Music, Art, Drama, Dance, Zumba, Yoga, Magic, Movie, Eco, Agri, Positive Transformation are the various avenues in the form of clubs that these students are exposed to on that day for the holistic development.

Outings on specified weekends are provided to boys and girls, where they have an option of staying overnight or return on the same evening. When boys have outing, girls engage themselves in Indoor and Outdoor activities and vice-versa.

Students are let free on Sundays from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM to talk to their friends, call Parents and to write Assignments followed by Dinner at 7:15 PM and the Study hour later.

Women Cell is formed in the college that caters to the safety measure of a girl child in the campus. An Anti-Ragging Committee ensures that every child that is entrusted to us have a secure stay in VIKAS.

Vacation:

The students will have 10 days vacation in the month of October and 20 days in the month of May. The dates are specified in the college calendar.

Discipline:

The primary focus at VIKAS is student discipline. Strict action will be initiated against the students who do not oblige to the rules and regulations of VIKAS. Interaction in any form between students of opposite sex is not permitted at VIKAS and if any student is found violating this rule, he/she may have to face suspension/rustication from the institution.

Uniform:

The students are expected to wear the uniform given by the institution on Weekdays. They have the option to wear the Weekend uniform on Saturdays.

For a memorable, pleasant and comfortable stay at VIKAS, the students and parents are expected to go through the hostel rule book and college rules and regulations and abide by them. To secure top ranks in entrance exams, a student has to dedicate at least 5-6 hours in hostel exclusively for studies every day. With hard work, dedication and perseverance, Success is guaranteed.
